The first 40 days. Franks own Diary

The above photograph taken in the late 70's shows Frank (left), together with colleagues including Jenny Mills of Seaforths travel (right). Frank had a long career in travel before he retired on the 15th March and shortly later left and started his walk.

Here are some extracts from Jenny's speech. We are here today for special occasion, to say farewell to Frank, and to send him on his American Adventure and also to celebrate his working life here at Seaforths, a career that spans some 27 years. Frank began his time with Seaforths in a very different world of travel to the one we live in today. Frank joined the company at our office in 22 Regent Street in Yarmouth, in 1974, when there were only three full time members of staff, a little different from today!!! Frank saw the next move to 39 Regent St, in 1982 another smart high St travel agent, but this time with a well established business travel section. It was through those next five years that Frank played a vital role in the development of the company that would take it to where we are today specialising in business travel. Frank took a short break in the late eighties after we sold our retail division to Lunn Poly, but when I encountered some difficulties in 89, and needed a reliable pair of hands to help Frank came to the rescue, and I'm pleased to say has been with us ever since. Frank was very much involved in setting up our Agents department at Norwich Airport He has brought many things to Seaforths over the years, his undeniable fund of knowledge, his ability to adapt to the huge changes that he has seen over the years, his Dutch charm, his interest and love of travel , his sometimes dubious dress code!! I do know about how the office at Norwich airport had their own dress code, and when I showed up unexpectedly there was a panic for Frank to get his shoes on! ! And his tie and God only knows what else!!!! And lets not forget home-made bread, and fruit cake. Frank we would be here all day to really do justice to all the years that you have given to Seaforths. I can only say a heartfelt thank-you for all the years of service you have given to Seaforths. Don't forget when you are talking to all those hundreds of people your going to meet along the way, please remember you know a great Business travel Agent!!
